Vernon Hawks End The Season With A Win Cody Culp found Chris Stoneham for a game winning 10 yard touchdown pass as Anacortes squeaked by Mt Vernon for a 27-24 win in overtime on Friday night. Culp's third touchdown pass of the game followed an Anthony Hodge field goal that temporarily gave the Bulldog's a 24-21 lead in OT. The Seahawks & Bulldog's needed an extra session after both teams failed to score in the entire second half of play. With the game tied at 21 at half time, conventional wisdom would lead one to believe that the second half would consist of more scores. That wasn't the case. In the opening half big plays were the story. We saw four touchdowns of 50 yards or more in the first 24 minutes, two by Anacortes, two by Mt Vernon. But defense was the name of the game in the second half as both teams failed to capitalize and take control of the game.
